Unhappy news from the World Conservation Union.  Six of eight bear species globally are now in trouble.

 The American brown bear (regardless of actual fur color) is one of only two species that seem to have a large enough population to be considered safe. The cause is largely people and what we do to the planet we inhabit but do not own.   In fact, “ownership” raises a series of ethical issues that our current culture and country are unable to appreciate.  Remember that mindless slogan, “ownership society?”
