I took this picture as this Downy went down, then back up a tree next to Bear Creek this afternoon. He was focused on ths task at hand as we hovered about ten feet away.
Earlier we had watched two miniscule Ravens dive-bombing a Golden Eagle that soared pastwithout seeming to move its wings. Of course, it was constantly adjusting those great feathered fingers on each wing tip, and using all the lift available in the wun-warmed air. I didn’t recover my senses in timeto try to get a picture as the three birds went over and were gone in a matter of seconds. Takes a good-sized bird to make the Ravens look like chunky swallows by comparison.
