Began the day with a field trip at North Mountain Park for my OLLI classes. Twenty-five of us followed the birds and bird slong around the park. Chat were heard in three locations. Sightings: zero.
Both Bullock’s Oriole and Western Tanager were bold and beheld. As were a couple of singing Yellow Warblers. The large, medium and small flycatchers were prominently perched. Wood-Pewee in a treetop next to Bear Creek. A mated pair of Black Phoebe in a willow just above the creek surface. They apparently have nest under cement bridge near the power plant at North Mountain. The Western Kkingbird ;pair were first seen playing deep Left Field on the main ball diamond, then moved up onto the power lines and utility poles.
House Finches, Tree Swallows, the blackbirds, a Warbling Vireo, Killdeer were all visible. The finches are still singing frequently. For awhile the Waxwings shared a tree with tanager and Yellow Warbler.
