ASHLAND WINTER

It’s not officially winter according to the calendar but our birds know better.

This Fox Sparrow is in our garden. It’s a species that is not found here during the breeding season. Another wintering sparrow here is the Golden-crowned and an occasional White-throated as well. And I spied a Ruby-crowned Kinglet flitting about in our trees that’ve not all lost their leaves. He’s another winter bird in these parts at this elevation (2000′).
Another sure sign of winter: Red-tailed Hawks pairing up. Theese two were in a tree along I-5 in Talent.

The larger bird on the right would be the female.
