GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE

The Great-tailed Grackle is headed to Ashland. If it moves northward as quickly as the Eurasian Collared-dove has done, it should be breeding here before the end of this decade. Here’s an unnecessarily hyped story about the large Icterid now establishing itself in San Francisco, mnoving faster than field guides can update their range maps.

  1. Rembering Jack Smith (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Smith_(columnist)) wrting of Grackles in LA though he was in a defesive mood as many feloow birders questioned his eye sight. That 35 to 40 years ago. Not sure what Herb Caen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herb_Caen) had to say to Jack.
