This was one bare-legged Dipper on upper Ashlnad Creek this week.
This Great Blue Heron was standing in the middle of Ashland Pond.

GETTING SOME SPRING COLOR
The willows are showing fuzzy catkins with a pink tinge. Some local willows are displaying bright greeny-yellow new shoots Green shoots of daffodil and iris are showing above ground. THere is more blue and less Pewter in the sky now. The Golden-crowned Sparrows are showing their true colors. Wintering ducks are beginning to pair off. I heard Wrentits singing this week. But one of gthe brightest hints of spring: our wintering Lesser Goldfinches are in their breeding plumage, highlighted by a warm, glowing yellow.
