Harry, I picked up a Sora Rail on my driveway below a picture window a few years ago. It should be in the SOU vertebrate collection.

They eat western fence lizards, a biological sink for Lyme disease in the western US. Don't suppose incidence of Lyme disease in humans will rise because of the establishment another alien species (turkeys) do you? May turn out to be another unexpcected consequence of human ignorance and greed.

It's the acorns not the seedlings that are directly at risk.

Hello

Just a little info I would like to relate. Today at noon 10/19/09 I saw an adult American bald eagle standing in the reclaimed marsh between the Corte Madera village shopping center and the cost+ parking lot. literally a stones throw from highway 101. The bird appeared to be a fully grown adult with brownish body, pure white head and tail. The Bird sat there looking around and was disturbed to fly away by a seagull, which then began flying directly behind the eagles tail almost nipping at the huge bird as it's large graceful wings batted a retreat. I have lived in Marin County all my life and have been a junior birder so to speak for some time... and though I have seen many osprey this is my first confirmed bald eagle in Marin.
