These wonderful photos of a juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk were taken in her garden, near the feeders, by Emmalisa Whalley.  This is in Talent, Oregon.  sharpshinnedhawk sharpshinnedhawk2 sharpshinnedhawk3 sharpshinnedhawk4 sharpshinnedhawk5 sharpshinnedhawk6Here is an interesting part of Emmalisa’s email to me: ” My roommate had told me that it was on the tube sunflower seed feeder the other day, eating away. I didn’t know they were seed eaters too, but it probably is a very opportunistic bird.  Anyway, these are my best shots and I like that I got this bird posing to the side, the front with the head in both directions and even one with its head turned all the way around.”

  1. Beautiful snaps of a beautiful raptor. Love the background bokeh.
