Oregon’s native son bird nerd is out to set a new world record–most bird species seen in a single year.  He’s just half-way through the year and is well on his way.  His total is over 3400 as he is now working his way through the Eastern Hemisphere having begun here in the Western Hemisphere. You can follow Noah Strycker’s exploits online. Three days birding in Cameroon added fifty new species.  You can click here to read all of Noah’s blogs and catch up with his global adventure.

One of my all-world birds was #3021 for Noah.  Seen in Spain: Collared Pratincole, combination swallow-falcon-shorebird.  Glorious to watch insect hawking over a field.  You can click here for more on this great bird.

Here you can read about Noah’s 3000th bird, found on a mountaintop in Turkey.
