A study of grassland birds in the upper Great Plains of the U.S. confirms what any birder would surmise: birds don’t like fracking wells.  It is hard to find many birds along freeways, parking lots and other man-made habitats.  Ditto the fracking fields. Click here for summary of the study.

  1. ‘The cumulative impact’ of fracking, housing and business development, and forest / grassland conversion something specifically human is hurting many species of animals, not just the birds. I pray for the day we run out of oil, sooner rather than later, and I don’t care what that means for our economy or the future of our own species. I say, to nature, bring it. Heal it. 😀
