SNOW FALL, BIRD FALLOUT

As the snow builds up in the low hills of the Coastal Range, more forest birds appear here in the Willamette Valley.  For the past few days I have been seeing Fox Sparrows in all the expected places…but just two weeks ago they had not arrived yet.  And today, for the first time, Purple Finches appeared in Wennenberg Park and then a Yellow-rumped Warbler attacked our suet feeder in McMinnville. Another first.  Winter birds are all present and accounted for.FOSP-GRNFL (1280x960) (2)  YRW FOCUSD (1280x960) (1280x960) YRW-BLUR1 (1280x960) (1280x960)Large, wet snowflakes falling at Ed Grenfell County Park, mid-day.snwfall
