GRAND MORNING ON GRAND ISLAND

Our McMinnville Park & Rec birding class had a good field trip to Grand Island this morning, despite the thunderstorm and hail that drove us into our cars for shelter.

One of the first birds we spotted on the island was a Bullock’s Oriole, then later we got closer to one at the Willamette Greenway.   There were three occupied Osprey nest platforms along the road and a juvenile Bald Eagle:BEG-UPP (1280x960)This male grosbeak was at the Greenway: BHG-WILLA1 (1280x960) BHG-WILLA2 (1280x960) BHG-WILLA3 (1280x960) BHG-WILLAFRONT (1280x960)Cliff Swallows, a few of the nest in large colony on old wooden barn.
