LET’S HAVE A LITTLE CHAT…

No, let’s have a lot of Chat(s).  I ran into a fraternity of Yellow-breasted Chat males this afternoon.  Each one was into competing with his neighbor, blasting away with his aggressive, pseudo-mimicry on an otherwise calm afternoon.  The birds were on a steep slope where Doug-firs are filling in an old clear cut.  Right now the slope is largely covered with a thicket mixing blackberries, elderberries, broom, bracken and bigleaf maple.  There is no water present.CHT-1 CHT-2Here he is taking off to go pester one of the other singing males. CHT-LAUNCH TV in molt.  I always stop to watch TV, and it’s free, over the air…no cable or sat-dish needed.  No ads, no shopping.
