SNOW BIRDS

img_0164img_0168As snow covered McMinnville this morning the bird population in our garden soared.  At least thirty Juncos, ten Starlings (a high count for us) and the usual suspects gathered…many coming underneath the veranda’s protective roof where I moved one of the bird baths.  The Starlings quickly jumped in after I added lukewarm water to replace the ice I knocked out.img_0225img_0226Our cat was an interested spectator at the spectacle.  My wife got these photos through the windows. Stepping outside meant immediate departure of all the birds seen.img_0228juncsnoEarlier this week before the snows came:bcc-eetzdown-up1down-upp2down-upp3down-upp4img_0069junc1spot0trio-eetz

Birds above include: Juncos, House Sparrows, Song Sparrow (the streaky guy), Downy Woodpecker, Spotted Towhee and Black-capped Chickadee.
