SNOW WHITE

It’s snow white around here today, and that’s no fairy tale.

Some desultory snowflakes began drifting down at 940AM, by 1020 it had become real snow.  The first flakes to stick were lading on moss that caps many of the shadier portions of curbing along McMinnville’s streets.  Soon though it was sticking to leaves, both on the ground and on evergreen bushes, then onto rock tops, and bare ground.  Eventually it began to stick to horizontal tree limbs, fern fronds, empty cars and the tops of roofs with good insulation.

The snow on unmown fields at Joe Dancer Park outlined the rodent tracks in the grass and weeds.  Studying the lack of pattern it is fascinating to see the almost random rodentic traffic patterns, and then suddenly one that is almost straight. snotrksnotrk2snw1snw2snw3snw4snwfronds

There was very little bird action except around our feeders, and other feeders as well.  The temp never approached 40 all day.
