In answer to the latest come-on to buy something from this once venerable organization, I used their envelope to send them this letter:
Dear National Geographic:
You may as well delete us from your database. You can save some paper and postage. We will not be buying or subscribing to anything from National Geographic ever again. Yes, we have been long-time patrons, taking the magazine, buying numerous books over the decades. I regularly use the Natl Geo birding field guide. But no new purchases. That is because of your present ownership. The Murdoch media empire is partially to blame for the sorry state of politics here in the U.S. and in Britain. Trump and Brexit have both been abetted by long-time right-wing propaganda spewed forth by Faux News, “Wall Street Journal” editorial page and “The Times” in England. For his own ends Murdoch and his minions have warped and shaped “information” to get to their goal of a de-regulated industry that allows maximum profit with minimum public responsibility, including widespread BS about climate change being a liberal conspiracy. No more of my money will go anywhere near any Murdoch property.
If you need money, ask Roger Ailes.
