OCEAN-GOING MERGANSER

On our Golden Gate Audubon trip to the Pacific Northwest we saw over twenty duck species.  One that appeared almost any time we were around shallow salt-water –bay, inlet, estuary, marsh pond–was the Red-breasted Merganser.rbm asleeprbm awakrbm-ladiesThe females are the pair at the bottom.  All images from Ediz Hook, Port Angeles.
