ARRIVAL ON TIME

Just as the book says, here comes the first Black-throated Gray Warbler reported in Jackson County.  Found by Linda and Peter Kreisman near Ashland and some oaks this morning. Peter’s picture:btg warb-late MarchThis bird is not a common breeder here but is regular on migrations in both directions.  We also get Common Yellowthroats and Townsend’s Warblers regularly on migration.  The common nesting warblers in Jackson County are: Hermit, MacGillivray’s, Nashville, Orange-crowned, Wilson’s, Yellow. Yellow-breasted Chat* and Yellow-rumped.  The latter is our only common wintering warbler though Orange-crowned and Townsend’s do show up on some Christmas Bird Counts.

The chattering Chat is the logo of both Rogue Valley Audubon and Klamath Bird Observatory which are based in the county.
