WINDBLOWN TUALATIN

Several intrepid birders from our McMinnville birding class accompanied me to the Tualatin River Nwr this morning.  The wind and rain tagged along later.  Before that we got in some good birding. When we arrived three Bald Eagles were circling over the march before the visitors center: an adult, a yearling and a two-year-old.

Yellow-rumped Warblers of both flavors were busy in the regenerating oak forest along the trail.  The air was criss-crossed by hundreds of swallows.  We saw four species, the most prevalent were Violet-green.

Therer were several birders looking for the Black-bellied Plovers…when we left there were no positive sightings.  ONe Red-necked Phalarope had been seen, but not by us.  This wund should drive lots of interesting of stuff into the Willamette Valley…
